Love Songs With The Word "Crazy"| Who Wrote The Song "Crazy"?
75
Some of the greatest love songs written have the word 'crazy' in the lyrics. I think many of us at one time or another have experienced 'crazy' love. Is love crazy, or does yearning it make us crazy, or losing it, or does being in love make us crazy? Apparently poets and songwriters alike have realized the appeal of love's most mysterious element, even scientists have researched the phenomenon of 'crazy' love. Come along with me while we discover more about some of these crazy little love songs.

Who Wrote The Song, 'Crazy'?
One of my very favorites is "Crazy", which was written by Willie Nelson while he was in his struggling songwriting days. He originally wrote it and presented it to Larry Butler, a country western singer. Perhaps it was Butler's refusal of this song that ended up making it Paty Cline's number one hit. After Butler refused the offer, Nelson presented it to Cline. At first she wasn't 'crazy' about it, but with the encouragement of her husband and producer, Owen Bradley, she recorded it. And we're fortunate she did!
It remains to this day one of the top five songs played on jukeboxes in the United States. (It was one of my mother's favorite songs.) Diana Krall also covered it as a tribute to Cline on the Remembering Patsy Cline album. When it was released in 1961, it turned into a crossover hit, making both the country and pop music charts. She received three standing ovations when she performed it at the Grand Ole Oprey. Cline had the perfect voice for the complex melody, which makes the song so memorable. Listen to 'Crazy' and fall in love all over again.
Crazy- Patsy Cline
Crazy Love- Van Morrison
Van Morrison penned 'Crazy Love' in 1970 after his marriage to Janet Planet. It's a poetic, beautiful song that is often played at weddings. Many other artists have covered this song due to it's universal appeal and lyrical beauty.
It has been sung by some of the best, Brain McKnight, Rod Stewart, Ray Charles, Michael Bouble', among others. Anytime Ray Charles picks up one of your songs, you know it's a classic and destined to be one of the top 'crazy love' songs.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love- Queen
Freddy Mercury, of Queen, wrote 'Crazy
Little Thing Called Love' while lounging in a bubble bath in
Munich, Germany while on tour. Once out of the bath, he wrapped himself
in a towel and asked one of his bandmates for a guitar and worked on
the chords. Now you have a bit of music trivia to share with your
friend or partner the next time you hear one of the best crazy big
love songs ever written. He sounds a bit like Elvis in this song,
which was a departure from their regular sound. It shows the genius and
musical versatility that was Freddy Mercury. It was their first US hit
and made it to #2 on the UK charts. 'ready Freddy?'

Crazy For You- Madonna
Madonna sang the song 'Crazy For You' for the film, Vision Quest, which in some European countries was later titled, Crazy For You, to capitalize on Madonna's fame. The song is a love ballad which she performs in the movie, playing a singer at a nightclub. John Bettis, a lyricist, and Jon Lind, songwriter/musician, wrote the song after they read the script for the movie.
Although it almost wasn't included in the film, it was rearranged by composer, Rob Mounsey, and Bettis and Lind were thrilled with the changes. It was one of Madonna's most sophisticated, love ballads.
Crazy For You- Madonna
Crazy- Aerosmith
Aerosmith, with it's frontman, Steven Tyler, come next with their 1993 release of 'Crazy'. It was written by Tyler, Joe Perry and Desmond Child. The song is a power love ballad which Tyler does so well. The song won a Grammy in 1994 for Best Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocal. "I'm losing my mind cuz I'm going crazyyyyy." The video was a top hit on MTV and features Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone. I didn't count how many times Tyler belts out the word 'crazy', but you might feel a little crazy after you hear the song. It's the power ballad 80's and this was one of the best.
Crazy- Aerosmith
Crush- Dave Matthews Band
1998 brought one of the best Dave Matthew's songs to a global audience. All of their songs are amazing, but 'Crush' is possibly the most intensely romantic love song I've ever heard. Matthews wrote the song for his wife as a testament to her powerful presence in his life. If I ever have a man write those kind of lyrics for me, I will be forever putty in his hands. (A bit of drama.) It's really difficult to beat anything that Matthews pens. He also has an acoustic version of this song that he performs with his lead guitarist, Tim Reynolds. It is equally a beautiful love song. "Crazy how you make it all all right love."

Crazy In Love- Beyonce
There are performers that come around in our lifetimes that simply blow their competition into the dust and Beyonce is one of those performers. Like her or not, she is a brilliant, talented, powerful performer. 'Crazy In Love' with Jay Z is one of those love songs that gets you up on your feet. It has been used in numerous soundtracks including Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, White Chicks and Taxi. If you've ever seen Bridget Jones, it makes perfect sense that this song, ' Crazy in Love', is part of the official soundtrack. Rick Harrison, Knowles and Jay Z wrote this song about a woman in love who does things that women in love do, sometimes we get a little crazy.

Oh, what a cool idea for a hub. I must say my favorite "Crazy" song is the one by Seal... "we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy." I love his voice and the cool melody in that song. You have some great choices, though.
Anyway, happy holidays and happy new year, Rebekah. May it be a prosperous and joyous one for you and yours.
I didn't realize there were so many songs with Crazy in the title yet U an familiar with most of the. Cool hub that I enjoyed.
Hi Rebekah, gotta go with Van Morrison although his "Have I Told You Lately that I Love You" is one of the most romantic songs ever. I enjoyed all of these, thanks for putting them all together. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday. =:)
Excellent List of "Crazy" songs rebekahELLE,
"Crazy on You" is actually my favorite in this category but I voted for second choice in the poll which is Aerosmith's "Crazy". Had fun reading and discovering some older songs we may have forgotten about.
Thanks for the complete "LIST"
Hello again, if you listen to Van's song it's better sung by Rod Stewart. On another note, I just ran across a song called "Crazy Enough" you might want to hear as at least an honorable mention.

This is the coolest idea for a hub I've seen for a while. My fav of course is the rocking and rolling 'This thing called love ..' by the awesome Freddie Mercury. Although I do like the others too. Awesome!
I love this hub. I voted for Madonna's crazy song. Also while reading this I couldn't stop thinking of something really crazy, I once listened to Latoya Jackson sing Patsy Cline's crazy song on live TV... which would be my second favorite crazy song! (Cline's version).
A tie between "Crazy" by KCI & JoJo and Brian McKnight's version of Van Morrison's "Crazy Love".
check out a 'crazy' song i wrote and had demo'd..called 'all kinds of crazy....
Fun hub! Love the "crazy" list.

Patsy did a good job with that song.I remeber listening to it when I was just a teenager, there is something poetic and honest about it. And Seals song is pretty good too.Great hub
Patsy Cline's Crazy is my favorite.
Patsy singing 'crazy' has to be one of my all time favourites, that's incredible that it's still one of the top 5 to be played on jukeboxes!
